HEAD COACH - Dan Nolan
Dan Nolan is a social studies teacher and the head football coach at Lyndon Institute. A 1999 graduate of the University of Vermont, Nolan began his coaching and teaching career at North Country Union High School in 2001. After working in the social studies department and serving as the football team’s defensive co-ordinator for seven years, Nolan joined the Vikings as head coach in 2008. He was named the Division II Coach of the Year following his first season on the Vikings sideline after leading them to a playoff berth for the first time in five seasons. Nolan currently resides in West Burke, Vermont.
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR - Nick Hale
Nick Hale is the defensive coordinator for the varsity squad at LI. He also works with the defensive line and running backs at the varsity and sub-varsity levels. Hale is a 1997 graduate of Lyndon Institute where he played offensive and defensive line, was a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Award winner, and a Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl starter for Vermont. A 2001 graduate of Norwich University with a BS in Physical Education, he started for two years at center for the Cadets. Hale has been coaching for nine years. Coach Hale currently resides in East Burke, Vermont.
SPECIAL TEAMS and SUBVARSITY COORDINATOR - Doug D’Olimpio
Doug D’Olimpio is the varsity special teams coordinator, and oversees our subvarsity programs. Doug is an experienced coach who has been with the program for 20 years.
VARSITY ASSISTANT - Chris Cadorette
Chris Cadorette is a varsity assistant primarily responsible for running the scout team offense and defense, and also works with the offensive and defensive lines. Cadorette joined the Vikings in 2010, bringing his extensive coaching and playing experience to the program. A native of East Montpelier, Cadorette played offensive and defensive line at U-32 from 1995-1999. After graduation, Cadorette went on to play at Southern Connecticut State and Norwich University, where he received his degree in Physical Education in 2005. Most recently, he earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Norwich in 2010. Cadorette is the son of Paul and Jean, has a sister Julie, and currently resides in the LI dorms, where he is a dorm parent.
VARSITY ASSISTANT - Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson joined the LI staff just prior to the 2010 season after a five year hiatus from football. An LI alumnus (’99), Johnson played a pivotal role on the 1997 Division III state championship team, served as co-captain of the ’98 state runner-up squad, and started on the 1999 Vermont Maple Sugar Bowl team. After a stellar high school career at LI, one that DID NOT include a single loss to St. Johnsbury, Johnson went on to Bates College where he started for two years at inside linebacker. He finished his playing career at Norwich University in 2003 starting at defensive end for the Cadets. Johnson began his coaching career at Norwich after graduation, coaching defensive ends in 2004 and 2005. He is currently employed by Community National Bank in St. Johnsbury.
SUBVARSITY OFFENSE - Chad Simpson
Chad Simpson is the JV offensive coordinator and an assistant offensive and defensive line coach. Simpson is a 2000 graduate of Lyndon Institute where he played all positions along the offensive line. He received a BS in Architectural Engineering technology from VTC and is currently working on his MEd from Southern New Hampshire University. In 2004, Simpson joined the faculty at LI as a math teacher, while he continued to coach at the youth level in the Junior Viking program. In the fall of 2005 Simpson started coaching at the freshman football level. Coach Simpson also coaches track and field in the spring specializing in the discus.
SUBVARSITY SPECIAL TEAMS - TJ Tanner
T.J. Tanner is a JV Assistant Coach in charge of special teams, and also works with quarterbacks. Tanner is a 1999 graduate of Lyndon Institute where he played a variety of positions on the gridiron. He received a B.S. in Business Administration from Lyndon State College. While attending LSC he played Rugby and served as an LI assistant coach at the freshmen level. In 2007 Tanner joined the Lyndon Institute staff as a business/math teacher and rejoined the football staff. Coach Tanner also serves as a throwing coach for LI’s track & field team, specializing in shot put.
